Addamsfest with the Museum Mavens
The Museum Mavens tapped into their inner “Femme Fatales” during a private tour of Westfield’s Addamsfest exhibit! We also got a sneak preview of the exciting plans for the future of the downtown Rialto theater.
Addamsfest is an annual celebration of Charles Addams, a prominent cartoonist for The New Yorker, who contributed more than 1,300 cartoons and cover artworks to the magazine.
Charles Addams, born in 1912 and raised in Westfield, was inspired by his hometown surroundings when creating The Addams Family. The characters that began as illustrations grew into a television series, a live-action movie franchise, a Broadway musical, two Addams Family animated movies, and, most recently, the highly successful Netflix series “Wednesday.” In October of 2020, he was posthumously inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.
AddamsFest returns each year to celebrate this prolific talent and the hometown that inspired his famous characters. Downtown Westfield transforms into all things Charles Addams with family-themed events, art exhibits, cultural discussions, and much more.
Be sure to check out the Addamsfest exhibit of his original cartoons and related artwork!
